It is not every day that you see a Congress, a BJP and an AAP minister sharing the same dais for a common purpose. So, it came as a pleasant surprise when Yashwant Sinha, a senior BJP ideologue, shared the stage with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Manish Tewari at a book launch event organised for the release of Tewari’s book Tidings of Troubled Times. The book is a collection of Manish’s articles published in 2016-17. Among the areas, he largely focuses on the new surge of the religious right, turmoil in the Kashmir Valley, legal affairs and the country’s foreign-policy dimensions.
However, the event was less about the book and more about the Yashwant-BJP war. Sinha slammed the party for inculcating a sense of fear amongst people. He said darr (fear) and democracy cannot go hand-in-hand. He also drew an example of Shalya from Mahabharata who was deceived by the Kauravas into battling against the Pandavas which clearly expressed his angst towards BJP’s ruling leaders.
