Baldeo Bhai Sharma, Chairman of National Book Trust, has been awarded the prestigious Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Award for the year 2015. President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented him the award consisting of a Certificate, a Shawl and an amount of Rs 5 lakh at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on 30 May. The award is given for excellence in Journalism.

Noted writer, journalist and social thinker, Baldeo Bhai Sharma has served as Editor of prestigious dailies such as Dainik Swadesh, Dainik Bhaskar, Amar Ujala etc. Appointed Editor of the national weekly Panchjanya in 2008, Sharma served there till 2013. Thereafter, he served as Editor of the daily National Duniya. He has contributed numerous articles on issues of national and social importance to major magazines and newspapers in the country.

A noted figure on various Hindi news channels for his participation in sociopolitical discourse, he has also been associated with Akashvani through its numerous programmes for a long time. He has also recently authored three books, Mere Samay Ka Bharat, Adhyatmic Chetna aur Sugandhit Jeevan and Hamare Sudarshanji. Sharma is also associated with various social institutions.
