For the first event of the tenth anniversary celebration of the Jaipur Literature Festival, held in New Delhi in mid-December, the organisers held a musical evening, with Bhakti poetry reading by Arundhati Subramaniam, Harpreet singing from Kabir, Rahim and Bulle Shah and Parbati Baul mesmerising the audience with her rendition of Bhakti songs. The themes of the ZEE JLF 2017 includes Freedom to Dream: India @ 70, The Magna Carta, Translation and World Literature, Women and Marginalised Voices, Sanskrit, and Colonialism and the Legacy of the Raj. A secret was announced, which turns out to be the presence of Paul Beatty, Man Booker winner this year. The Australian High Commission used the platform of the Delhi Curtain Raiser to announce JLF Melbourne, a pop up edition of the Festival in February. BLD
