In the books, on the mat

Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf is planning to sue PM Nawaz Sharif after a book revealed that Nawaz took money from Osama bin Laden for jihad in Kashmir and Afghanistan and for destabilising Benazir Bhutto government in 1989.
The basis of PTI’s allegations against Nawaz Sharif is a book written by Shamama Khalid, wife of a former Inter- Services Intelligence (ISI) spy Khalid Khawaja, who was killed by the Pakistani Taliban in 2010.The book is Khalid Khawaja: Shaheed-i-Aman. The book claims that Sharif took nearly Rs 1.5 billion from bin Laden to promote jihad in Kashmir and Afghanistan.
It further claims that about Rs 270 million was later utilised to support a no-confidence move against the then Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in 1989.
Sharif is already under probe by a joint investigation team constituted on the orders of Pakistan Supreme Court. The JIT was formed on the plea of PTI, which demanded a probe in the Panama Papers case. The book revealed that Sharif and his family members owned offshore companies dealing in millions of dollars in property transactions. The Pakistan Supreme Court in April ordered a probe against Pakistan’s Prime Minister in connection with the Panama Papers case. Nawaz Sharif will have to appear before a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) which will probe his family’s involvement in corruption as claimed in the Panama Papers leak, the country’s Supreme Court said. The commission has 60 days to submit its report to the top court. The JIT includes officials from National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence.
