Former National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) director VS Prasad has said that lack of systematic distribution of funds to educational institutions is the prime reason behind the fall in educational standards in the country.

‘Over 35 million students are getting educated from over 800 universities across the country in each academic year,’ he said. He was speaking at the two-day seminar organised by PB Siddhartha College in association with Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education on national education policy.

In his keynote address, Prasad said that the country has brought three major educational reforms in 1986, 2002 and 2016. He said that the National Education Policy 2016 draft could be much more developed and implemented effectively. ‘In the present scenario, majority of the students are lacking skill education and very few are securing jobs after completion of their studies,’ he said.

Prof N Ramakrishna Rao, Vice- Chancellor of Krishna University, said majority of the students would be benefited from the new educational policy when government focuses on life skills right from the school education. ‘This would bring an enormous change in the society and education system,’ he said.Courtesy The Indian Express
